Wire Jewelry - Back to Basic Collection

Maybe it has something to do with age as I am quite slow in recovering from last weekend trip.
Still feeling tired although I didn't do much there -- mostly walking, window shopping, chit chatting and lots of laughing.
Now my right leg and arm are hurting slightly.
Its like a tiredness that wouldn't to go away.
Thought I didn't get enough sleep so went to bed earlier than usual last 2 nights but still the same.

OK, enough about that and here is the pair of earrings made before I left last weekend.
This is my Back to Basic Collection - Simple three pieces of wires on each side adorned with tear drop glass beads. All wires were hammered to harden.

The Unknown "Blue"

This is last weekend project - a Twice Around the World (TAW) Wire Wrapped Bracelet.
Unfortunately I don't know the type or name of this stone. Each of them measures about 1cm in diameter and I got them from New Zealand. Beautiful shade of blue.
Any idea what stone is this?

What Would You Do? | Fossilized Coral Pendant - Wire Wrapped and Woven

Today I would like to ask a question and I'd love to hear what you have in mind.
Do leave me comment if you have the time.
Here is the question.
What would you do if you discovered that a piece you just completed looks similar (maybe 95% similarities) to someone else's design?
However, you cross your heart and swear to die you have never seen hers/his design before?
Do you....
  • remove all pictures of the piece you have posted?
  • give credit to the other person? If yes, how do you give credit in this situation as you have never seen his/her creation/design before hand? --- ehm..."thank you for the inspiration but I have never seen your creation before?" --- sounds very fake and insincere right?
  • offer an apology?....for what ya?
  • believe in coincidence and explain how you come up with your design?
  • or accuse the other person for copying (if he/she is accusing you for the same)!
  • or let me know your experience...........
Another question will be coming in the next post.
Meanwhile, here is sharing with you my recently completed wire wrapped fossilized coral pendant.

Two Wire Wrapped Rings

Here are the two rings I made last weekend.
This first one here is a wire wrapped Jasper ring. This stone has two holes on it.
Because of that, I spent quite some time figuring out how to wire wrap so as not to get one messy wrap.
Chipped one stone in the process....the preferred color by the lady who comissioned this.
Now I am not sure if she likes this color.
If she doesn't, I will keep this for myself :) Love it.

Another fruity wire wrapped ring. Made this one many times before.
Learned how to make this from one of the Yahoo Groups.
If not mistaken, it's Beadingholics but I maybe wrong.
Searched for the tutorial but can't find it there or other groups.
Maybe it's removed.

Have a great weekend and happy wrapping.

While in Penang....

Been wanting to post pictures taken while we were in Penang (Island) but didn't realize I took so many of them.
I ended up spending way too much time choosing and editing these photos.

While in Penang I also realized the StatCounter on my blog shows the figure 300,000 +.
This generally means my blog been visited/hit for more than 300 thousand times!
Thank you to all my readers and followers (new, old, not yet discovered, etc. :) for being so loyal and for reading my blog.
I hope you bare with me as I have not been able to post as frequently as I like.
Got to think of something to celebrate this :)...Soon.......

That aside, here are highlights of our Penang Trip.
First and foremost - FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! (click pic to enlarge)
Some pictures taken in Penang 2010
Whenever people say they are going to Penang, they are (always!) reminded to EAT! EAT! and EAT!
So! dear hubby and the boys started eating while on the plane and at the Penang Airport while we waited for our transport on arrival.
Eating time in Penang 2010
There are varieties to choose from, either at home or outside home :)
Hawker food is very popular in Penang.
You find them in every available corners.
We were told half of Penang's population (out of 800k, density of 2.5k every km square) is involve in food business/preparation. So, you can imagine, practically surrounded by food.

Be brave and adventurous with food and you will not regret.

More Penang food
....ehm...I don't mean adventurous with these dead lizards though (bottom right pic)
This street vendor is selling lizard poison at Air Itam. Lizards anyone?....:D

Kek Lok Si Temple, the largest Buddhist Temple in South East Asia
One of the places we visited - must visit is the Kek Lok Si Temple, the largest Buddhist Temple in South East Asia. Few weeks before our visit, there were reports in the paper that there is terror plot to attack temples including Kek Lok Si Temple. Anyway, I am not delving into that, it just news.
Heritage Buildings", left by the British Empire about 200 years ago, restored and turned into tourist attractions
Penang also has many old historical buildings.
Many of them are "Heritage Buildings", left by the British Empire about 200 years ago, restored and turned into tourist attractions.
Last but not the least are the "People" of Penang.
Meeting the Penangites
After all, this was our main purpose for the trip - visiting and getting to know the families and relatives.
This is our boys' first proper introduction to them...ermm actually mine too...ops!
With the Penangites
The boys really love their "Chek Kong" (middle bottom pic).
Overall, it was a fun, too short trip, great food and AWESOME "People" :)
