A trip to Borneo Highland
We decided to take the boys and the grandma for an outing up country this morning. A short trip to a place we used to spend many weekends before they came along - Borneo Highland and all the streams found within the upper catchment of Sarawak River basin. A place where we can still find crystal clear streams and rivers.
First stop at Kpg. Semadang, about an hour drive and the suspension bridge over Sarawak River. Its about 15m above the river. Water level can rise up to the bridge during rainy season (landas). By then, the whole village would be flooded. Happened few years back.
This picture (above) was taken from the suspension bridge. The water was crystal clear and shallow - about knee depth. When we arrived about mid-morning, there were villagers bathing and washing in the river.
I really feel like joining them down there.
On the way to our picnic spot.
The boys having fun with the net, trying to catch fish. Water was clear but the sun was way way too hot for me even with my wide brim hat.
....and here are the fish they caught. Dont' worry, its catch and release.
On the way home, we checked out another potential picnic spot. This one is shaded! Next trip!
Overall, it was a fun trip with some durians along the way - didn't take any pix of them though!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

If you could ask.....
....what is it about me or my blog that you would like to know or ask?
Are there moments while you are here, you wonder what kind of a person is behind this blog? ;)
I do when I visit yours and other blogs but sometimes I don't dare to ask as I am a bit shy ...hehe.
So if you read this post today, ask me anything about me, my hobby, my blog, my life, etc. etc. and I shall try to answer them to the best I could ;).
Have a wonderful weekend all!
I am off for lunch then my tools and wires :)

Muse, Organic Swirls and Eddies
I think my muse is on its way home sweet home :).
Came up with this pendant this weekend and quite happy with the result.
Lots of swirls and mixture of pearls, gemstones (citrine and peridot), dyed coral and Swarovski crystals.
It measures about 6cm in length and 3.5cm across at its widest.

"Lucky Stones"
Any idea what stone is this?
The man said its "Lucky Stone". Well! I hope so!
Purchased this "Lucky Stone" pendant while I was in Miri last week.
Anyway, I bought it because of the intricate design, hand-carved and I was born in the year of "Sheep".
The artist at work. He is from China and claimed to have started carving since 5 years old. WOW!
Notice the scar on the hand. Those are burnt marks due to lightning and fire one fateful day while he was digging for this "Lucky Stone". His right hand is hidden under the table cloth the whole time we were there. That's what got us curious and asked him why! Keipo!
But, we were in awe of his talent, skill and workmanship, and the pendant is worth its $$$ after seeing what he has to go through for the love of the art and to earn a living.

Wire Work and Embroidery / Needlework
My wire muse still refuses to come home.
So, last weekend I deviated a bit from wirework and revisited embroidery and needlework. Been a while since I last hold the needle and here is my experimental work - combining wire work and needlework.
Look at that! The stitches are all over the place. Do you notice that? I was practicing the different type of stitches.
