Different Kind of Montrance

Not sure if this qualify as a Montrance or not. That is why I am calling it a different kind of Montrance - wire wrapped Montrance :) Focal is pearl while the frame is 20ga wire. This is a "commissioned" piece but it turned out quite different from the Montrance that was shown to me as sample. Lucky I told her that I will take this project as a challenge as I was not sure if I can create it with wire. Still, I hope she likes it. Inspiration: The "Koru" swirl is inspiration from Erin

It is the Time of the Year for......

..Ching Ming festival (Chinese All Souls Day)...or grave cleaning day and paying respect to the ancestors again. The actual date is on April 5th but we do it earlier most of the time to avoid the crowd on the actual date. Food, flowers, paper money are the normal offerings. Extras may include paper dresses, perfume, shoes, car, refrigerator, etc. How do we send these to the after world? By burning them of course. But not the food though, still can eat them :) This grave here (top pix) must be one of the last one located within a house compound and within a residential area. It is located within the boys great grandfather's house compound in the city. The older generation likes to have their loved ones close to them I guess. There used to be quite a few similar graves in the area but according to MIL, they have since been relocated to proper burial grounds especially when the houses are inherited to younger generations or sold to new owners. Some were relocated to increase the value of the property. Well, if I have the choice I wouldn't want to purchase a property with a grave on its compound:) Would you? Hmm...I don't normally take photos of grave/s or cemetary for fear that the photo may show "something" else but what the heck, I was just trying to snap the boys having fun with the puppy (bottom pix).
